Si bien es cierto que Vanessa Selbst le lleva varios pasos de distancia, Somerville fue antes el primer hombre que confesó su homosexualidad abiertamente.

Sobre este tema ha hablado el último embajador de Ultimate Poker en una entrevista que Fighland.vice.com le ha realizado recientemente.

El portal está originalmente orientado al mundo de los deportes de contacto, algo que va muy unido a la figura de Jason Somerville en la actualidad. Aficionado desde hace años a las artes marciales, hasta ahora la sala que le patrocina es también propietaria de la competición más importante de Artes Marciales Mixtas (MMA), es decir, el Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

La primera parte de la entrevista, aborda precisamente la afición que siente Somerville por los deportes de contacto.

Siempre me han gustado. Empecé haciendo karate de pequeñito, cuando tenía cinco años, y me dediqué a aprender y entrenar hasta que tuve 19, aunque la realidad es que la primera vez que me topé con un combate de la UFC fue de manera accidental. Un día que fui a casa de mi amigo Royce Gracie, estaba a punto de combatir Matt Hughes y Royce lo tenía puesto en la tele. El tipo de evento y su magnitud me cautivaron. No podía apartar mi mirada de la tele cada vez que se tenía lugar una velada de UFC.

Tras este pequeño repaso a la relación que tienen Jason Somerville y el mundo de los deportes de contacto, las preguntas del entrevistador se centran ya en el tema de la homosexualidad, tanto en el mundo del MMA como más tarde en el poker.

Incluso anterior que el jugador de la NBA Jason Collins saliera del armario, Dana White aseguró que estaría encantado de dar la bienvenida a la UFC a un luchador abiertamente gay. ¿Crees que es algo que veremos pronto?

De hecho ya existe una luchadora gay en la UFC. Se trata de Liz Carmouche quien se enfrentó a Ronda Rousey por el título del peso gallo en febrero. La realidad es que no lo sé. Considero que todavía tardaremos algún tiempo en ver el primer luchador de la UFC abiertamente gay. Es una puerta muy difícil de traspasar, especialmente si tenemos en cuenta que las MMA son algo muy físico. Ojalá fuera diferente, pero entiendo perfectamente porque un luchador puede tomar la conclusión de mantenerse en silencio.

¿Qué tipo de reacciones recibiste tú cuando decidiste salir del armario? ¿Crees que tu experiencia hubiera sido diferente o igual, de no haber dado el paso previamente el jugador de la NBA Jason Collins?

No he tenido ninguna mala experiencia como jugador profesional de poker, cero. Incluso participando en lo más alto a lo que un jugador de poker puede aspirar, es decir, los grande torneos, todo el mundo ha aceptado sin problemas mi decisión. La propia naturaleza del poker involucra a jugadores de todos los tipos, hay mucha diversidad. Si tienes el dinero necesario para jugar, siempre encontrarás un asiento disponible. Todos jugamos con las mismas cartas, tenemos las mismas fichas y dependemos de nuestras propias decisiones. Es un juego o un deporte extremadamente democrático, y la comunidad del poker se mostró muy cálida y cercana a mí cuando tomé la conclusión de explicar mi condición sexual. Posterior sentir toda aquella ansiedad, el poder sentirme a gusto conmigo mismo a los 24 años, y escuchar a tanta gente que me dijo "tranquilo, sigues siendo alguien genial" fue algo que me reconfortó enormemente.

Entre las 326 páginas de los dos tomos registrados en la Comunidad de Madrid por Las Vegas Sands, asoma la primera representación de lo que será EuroVegas.

La semana pasada, EuroVegas se hizo un poquito más real cuando Las Vegas Sands, la multinacional estadounidense que ideó la construcción del macrocomplejo de ocio, juego y congresos en España, entregó oficialmente el proyecto al gobierno madrileño.

Así se verá Times Square desde el cielo de Alcorcón / Urbanity.

Las 326 páginas que el presidente para Europa de Las Vegas Sands entregó en el registro de la Consejería de la Presidencia de la Comunidad de Madrid detallan el reparto de las 750 hectáreas que ocupará EuroVegas en Alcorcón, de las que 450 serán ocupadas por 12 resorts y 300 serán destinadas a construcciones auxiliares.

La distribución del área destinada a los resorts será similar a la del famoso Strip de Las Vegas, una calle central a la que darán las fachadas principales de los 12 complejos, dos de 5* Gran Lujo, siete de 5* y tres de 4*.

En la primera fase de la construcción se erigirán cuatro complejos. Los visitantes serán recibidos por The M, el icono del proyecto, un rascacielos de 72 plantas que contará en su base con un conjunto de fuentes luminosas .

A su lado se construirá el Jardín Botánico, un hotel erigido sobre una base inspirada en la representación de un bosque de luces. Justo enfrente, al otro lado de la calle principal, estarán emplazados el hotel temático El Circo y el Times Square, cuya máxima atracción será una reproducción de la modelo plaza neoyorquina.

La intención de Las Vegas Sands es que esta primera fase convierta ya a EuroVegas en un conjunto suficientemente atractivo desde un principio y que se convierta en un reclamo por sí sola, que se irá complementando con las futuras ampliaciones.

Los cifras más sobresalientes recogidas en el documento al que ha tenido acceso el periódico La Razón son los siguientes.

Rush Street Productions out of Chicago is heading up the effort, that's led by Heartland Poker Tour co-founder Todd Anderson. He'll be trying to translate his poker knowledge into an attractive poker show so we can bring the sport to millions of fans.

The One-Trick Pony Craps System is usually called the one-roll system. It's designed to hide all of the numbers on a craps table apart from 7. The dice don't have any memory, each roll is independent of the last, but many players will only play the program after some extent is established. And, they like to bet this after there's a front-line, seven-winner after which some degree established.
