Las buenas nuevas se mantenían durante gran parte del día, con Óscar a la cabeza del torneo a falta de 23 jugadores. Sus 2.300.000 puntos equivalían a 2,5 veces la media del torneo y le llevaron como chipleader al descanso de la cena, con 16 jugadores repartidos en las dos últimas mesas.
El objetivo del día era encontrar ocho jugadores par participar en la mesa final televisada en la que se jugarán 150.000€ para el campeón, y “La Púa” era el mejor colocado, pero acabó cayendo en el puesto 11º, con un premio de 11.500€.

En el día 2 de la PokerStars and Monte-Carlo Casino EPT Grand Final, el danés Gus Hansen, como de costumbre, hizo uso de los últimos minutos del registro tardío para comprar un stack de 30.000 puntos, algo menos de la mitad de la media del torneo.
Solo Gus es capaz de bromear sobre sus resultados online.Hansen duró menos de media hora en la mesa, eliminado por el jugador alemán Ole Schemion, pero como no hay mal que por bien no venga, eso le dio tiempo para atender los micrófonos de Poker-Red.
La cámara no era disponible en esos momentos y no podíamos dejar escapar a un personaje del calibre de Hansen, así que decidimos grabar el audio y transcribirte la entrevista a continuación.

No, yo no estaría eso. Eran suited.
Era una mesa muy tight y pensé que tenía una oportunidad de ganar un bote pequeño. Estaba shortstack. Subí a 1.700 y me resubió a 3.800.
Hay mucho dinero en el bote, casi 10.000 puntos y me quedan otros 10.000 por detrás y 42s es una mano que estoy muy contento de tener en esa situación. Obviamente prefiero ases, pero no siempre tienes ases. Si el flop sale KJ7 o así, foldeo sin problema, pero si me sale un proyecto de color o ligo pareja probablemente pegaré de cara.
El flop fue 732. Me gustó mucho. La mayoría de las veces ahí tiene dos overcards y no va a foldear a mi all-in, es una situación en la que meter mi dinero al medio como favorito, 3 a 1, y básicamente doblarme.
Es una mano con dos cartas de escalera y color, que se juega muy fácil postflop, que conecta en un número razonable de mesas y solo tenía que poner 21.000 más. Considero que es una jugada correcta. Sé que hay mucha gente que piensa distinto. Es mi manera de afrontar el juego.
Me hizo call con AQ. No me arrepiento de haber jugado así. No me arrepiento de nada de lo que hice en el torneo, porque he jugado unos 27 minutos o así, ya que suelo entrar en fases avanzadas.
Te quería preguntar sobre esto. ¿Por qué prefieres empezar en el día 2 y no jugar con stacks más profundos?
Suele depender. En eventos como este, la Grand Final del EPT hay grandes partidas de cash. Ayer estuve jugando hasta las seis de la mañana. Pensé en comprar la entrada para el día 1B, pero preferí jugar cash. Era el sitio donde debía estar.
En las WSOP ocurre igual. En Viena jugué el EPT y entré solo un par de niveles tarde, con un stack bastante profundo. Tuve una buena racha, jugué un buen torneo, con fallos, como tenemos todos, pero sí que me hizo pensar en si debería entrar antes en los torneos.
Pero, como te digo, depende. Había un sitio en una partida buena de cash y si las cosas van bien en los primeros dos niveles ya vuelves a a estar metido en el torneo con un stack decente. No me arrepiento de cómo jugué, y si no te arrepientes de cómo has jugado, las cosas te van a ir bien en el poker.
Con un turn o un river diferentes tendría 70.000 puntos, ahora tengo cero. Así es el poker. Vas all-in con reyes y a veces te encuentras con ases y otras con damas. Es una combinación de suerte y hablilidad.
Has mencionado Vegas. ¿Cuál va a ser tu agenda, vas a jugar el One Drop?
Voy a estar allí durante todo el festival. Llegaré el 1 de junio y jugaré sobre todo cash. El número de torneos que jugaré rondará los cinco. Podrían ser seis o siete, o solo tres. Los que jugaré seguro serán el 50k, el 25k, por supuesto el Main Event y hay otro par que me gustaría jugar como alguno grande de Pot Limit Omaha u Omaha Hi-Lo y, claro, el One Drop.
Si tengo que estimarlo ahora, considero que hay un 46,3% de posibilidades de que juegue el One Drop. No lo he decidido aún. Es un 50/50. Hace tres años ya había comprado la entrada y gané el satélite. Quizá este año vuelva a comprar la entrada y vuelva a ganar el clasificatorio. Eso es lo que espero que pase. Lo que espero que ocurra, exactamente.

Mi selección de mesa es la peor del mundo. No hay duda alguna.
¿Porque seleccionas mal a los rivales o el formato de juego?
Ambos. En ambos casos soy el peor.
Los tres formatos que más he jugado son Pot Limit Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo y Triple Draw.
En Triple Draw, básicamente, juego contra todos los alemanes que trabajan ese juego, hablan entre ellos, cambian ideas... En Pot Limit Omaha tienes a los tres tipos que viven juntos en México, tienes a “Bttech86” y a “Odd Oddsen”, seguro que conoces los nicks.
En definitiva, los mejores del mundo en cada formato, y luego estoy yo, intentando ganarles a cada en su juego.
Toda mi carrera se ha basado en aprender jugando contra buenos jugadores, pero a veces son simplemente demasiado buenos.
Por ahora me lo estoy tomando bien. He trabajado durante las dos últimas semanas en niveles más bajos, cambiando un poco el ritmo y cambiando de rivales y niveles, no siempre contra los mejores, y parece estar funcionando.
Aún hay un largo camino que recorrer, pero parece que estoy más atento, mi acercamiento al juego es más razonable, parece que estoy siendo más analítico con mi juego y ese es un paso en la dirección correcta, aunque aún quedan algunos pasos más que dar.
Dices que estás siendo más analítico ¿Vas a trabajar en aprender a utilizar software estadístico?
Existe la posibilidad. No he empezado aún y desde la EPT Grand Final hasta Vegas hay solo cuatro semanas y allí no se puede jugar online -en “.com”-, así que mi objetivo principal no va a ser ponerme a trabajar en eso.
De hacerlo, sería posterior las WSOP.

Qué jugadores piensas que son los mejores hoy en día en las mesas online.
Bueno, a Ben Tollerene parece que no hay nadie que pueda ganarle. Parece invencible. Pero yo pienso que “Odd Oddsen” es mejor que Tollerene. Es mi visión personal.
¿Douglas Polk?
No he jugado contra él. Habré jugado como 10 manos contra él, así que no puedo decirte nada. Jugué un poco contra él en directo en Australia, así que te puedo decir que es un tipo agradable. Es todo lo que puedo decir.
Lo que te decía, en Pot Limit Omaha el mejor es Ben Tollernene. Yo considero que “Odd Oddsen” es mejor, pero hay que observar los resultados, y estos dicen que Tollerene es el mejor.
En Triple Draw es “ragen70”, Niklas Heinecker. Es muy fuerte.
En Omaha Hi-Lo tengo problemas, no es ningún secreto, con “KPR16” y con “SallyWoo” -Gus sospecha que se ayudan de software para escoger las mejores líneas- pero no hay duda de que son muy buenos, no lo pongo en duda en absoluto.
Esos son los mejores jugadores contra los que juego. He de decir que “kagome kagome” es muy duro en Triple Draw. Desafortunadamente, esos son los tíos con los que he estado perdiendo.

Acerca de él, como en general en el poker, cuando su nivel de confianza es alto es muy difícil de batir. Cuando está bajo es más fácil, pero eso le pasa a todo el mundo en el poker.
He jugado contra Phil Ivey cuando estaba bajo de confianza y jugó horrible. No vas a escuchar a mucha gente en el mundo que diga que Ivey juega horrible, pero he tenido partidas con él en que ha jugado fatal. Luego me he enterado que había situaciones que le rodeaban, no era confiado, que tenía otras cosas en la cabeza.
Así que cuando Viktor está bien es complicado ganarle y cuando no está en su mejor momento de juego, puede explotar.
Al que le va completamente bien ahora es a Patrik Antonius.
Patrik llevaba un largo periodo de tiempo en que no era al nivel al que puede estar, no jugaba tan bien como él puede. De hecho, le quería en mis partidas. Pero ahora está en racha y no me gustaría nada tenerlo a mi izquierda.
La última. Va a empezar Roland Garros. ¿Vas a apostar, vas a meter dinero a Nadal?
No lo sé, he visto la derrota de Nadal contra Almagro, en el partido entre españoles en Barcelona, algo bastante sorprendente. También perdió en Mónaco contra Wawrinka, así que seguro que hay gente que dirá que no es el Nadal de siempre.
Ahora mismo no tengo ninguna apuesta en mente, pero nunca se puede decir que no vaya a hacerlas en semis o en la final. Veremos.
Quiero decir una cosa, todo el mundo va a estar apoyando a Wawrinka, que ganó en Australia. Tienes a los Djokkovic, Nadal, Federer,... pero todos quieren ver una cara nueva. Yo me tropecé con Federer en Australia y es encantador, así que me gustaría que ganara uno más.
